The new Skechers GORun 6 is the latest generation in the Skechers GORun series of 4mm drop lightweight, cushioned neutral running shoes. Designed for speed, it’s responsive, supportive and lightning fast.
The Skechers GORun 5 had a bulky and run-of-the-mill design. The new GORun 6 is streamlined with a boot-like seamless upper (laces not really needed in my opinion) and redesigned quick fit feature. I didn’t mind the GORun 5 for training but the GORun 6 is a crossover training and racing shoe. My wear test pair (US Men’s Size 10) of GORun 6 weighs 6.8 ounces versus 8.2 ounces for the GORun 5 – about 1 and 1/2 ounces lighter.

The GORun 6 compression (multi-tension) knit provides a sock-like fit (just like the Nike Fly Knit technology) with a tongue free design – smooth, comfortable, and warm fit. No hot spots, blisters, or pressure on the top of the foot with the insole removed running sock-less. This would be a good pair of running shoes for runners to truly try sock-less running – you’ll see the difference in your proprioception. However, with the insole intact, the knitted collar bothered my ankles on long runs or long road trips. Easily slip the GORun 6 on-and-off your feet even without using the heel pull tab.
Traction is excellent on both the rubber track and asphalt/concrete surfaces even for fast speed work on a slightly wet rubber track. As a member of the Skechers wear testing program, I have wear tested many different versions of GORun X from early prototypes to the production version reviewed here. It is amazing to see what the final version is with all the issues addressed and suggestions incorporated along the way. Awesome design shoe process.
For those runners looking to transition from high heel-to-toe drop running shoes (6mm to 12mm drop), the GORun 6 is a perfect transitional minimalist running shoe – lightweight, flexible, wide toe box, and medium cushioning. The Skechers M-Strike mid-foot strike technology promotes efficiency in each stride – mid-foot to forefoot foot strike, not heel strike. Rotate between the GORun 6 and your traditional running shoes with a natural running style and you’ll be on your way to sustainable injury-free running.
With this new design, the Skechers GORun 6 also passes as a casual shoe that can be worn outside of running and racing and in some office situations like Silicon Valley startups. You can also make a design statement by changing the color of the shoe laces from your other Skechers models.
