Move Free, Run Wild: LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed is the Natural Running Shoe Fans Have Been Waiting For

Posted on October 7, 2026

Order now to secure your ZenSpeed+ or ZenSpeed Lite

We gave you a sneak preview of the LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed collection back in May where we introduced the first two models in the collection: ZenSpeed+ and ZenSpeed Lite. We also compared these two models with the latest offerings from Altra Running.

Here’s a comparison table of the ZenSpeed+ and ZenSpeed Lite.

LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed+

The ZenSpeed+ model is closest to the Altra Experience Flow 3.

The ZenSpeed+ cushioning is slightly stiffer than the Experience Flow 3. The uppers are also stiffer but after wearing it for a few miles, it softened up. Wearing the ZenSpeed+ sockless for all my walks, runs, and rucking, no hot spots or blisters. Not even any rubbing at all – loved it.

Stack height, drop, and weight are almost identical between the ZenSpeed+ and Experience Flow. The ZenSpeed+ toe box is wide, but the design is more athleisure than running.

Notice there’s a subtle rocker curve from the side view. The upper is an engineered knit mesh –  fine-weave, breathable, and form-fitting without being compressive. The texture has a slight diagonal or crosshatch pattern that gives it visual depth without being loud. The TrueFit™ toe box is also immediately visible. Standard flat laces and natural cork insoles round off the model.

LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed Lite

The ZenSpeed Lite is closest to the Altra Escalante 5.

The ZenSpeed Lite cushioning is also slightly stiffer than the Escalante. The uppers are also slightly stiffer too but after wearing them for a few miles, they also softened up.

While the ZenSpeed+ is refined and understated, the ZenSpeed Lite is confidently loud. The Citrus colorway (pairing of volt and teal) is a classic performance color combination –  think early Nike Free energy –  but executed with a modern, slightly retro edge.

The side view shows an even flatter, lower-to-ground stance than the ZenSpeed+ – the 2mm drop and reduced 24mm stack are visually apparent. There’s no rocker geometry here; the bottom line is straighter and more natural.

The upper is the same engineered knit mesh construction as the ZenSpeed+. The TrueFit™ wide toe box is unmistakable, with the forefoot spreading naturally to accommodate toe splay. Same standard flat laces and natural cork insoles round off the model.

Stack height, drop, and weight are almost identical between the ZenSpeed Lite and Escalante. The ZenSpeed Lite toe box is wide, but the design is again more athleisure than running.

Which LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed Model is Right for You?

The ZenSpeed+ is for the runner who logs 30–50 miles a week, wants cushion that doesn’t punish long efforts, and is tired of running shoes that splay their toes into a narrow triangle. The rocker profile promotes a smooth midfoot strike. It’s a shoe that works with your gait, not one trying to redesign it.

The ZenSpeed Lite is for the runner who already knows they want to stay close to the ground. Former barefoot runners easing back into structured footwear. Transition runners who’ve done their Altra or Vivobarefoot time and want something with just enough between them and the pavement to handle real training volume. At 2mm drop and 24mm stack, this is one of the most committed natural-movement daily trainers on the market.

Final Word

LEMs Shoes waited eighteen years because they wanted to get this right. The ZenSpeed isn’t a brand diversifying for revenue –  it’s a natural movement brand finally applying two decades of foot-shaped thinking to the one activity that demands it most. If you’ve ever wished your running shoes felt as honest as your everyday shoes, the ZenSpeed collection has arrived. And has proven to be a worthy competitor to Altra Running, Xero Shoes, and VIVOBAREFOOT.

Everything you expect from natural running shoes (wide toe box, low drop, lightweight, light cushioning, natural foot shape) are there.

We are staking our reputation here by naming the LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed Lite the Wear Tested 2026 Shoe of the Year!

I wore the LEMs Shoes ZenSpeed Lite exclusively during my three weeks trip to Singapore fighting the hot & humid weather. Over 110 miles walking in the streets, train stations, and taking it on car, bus  & train rides… simply amazing travel shoe.

Both ZenSpeed models are available now in men’s and women’s versions, some in wide and medium-fit options, and in a few colorways.
