It has been over 7 years since we wear tested Kora apparel – the Kora Azog Hoodie incorporated yak wool into a performance mid layer for the first time. Fast forward to 2023, the Kora Yardang collection consist of lightweight supercharged merino mid layers with a fabric composition of 70% superfine merino wool and 30% premium yak wool and fabric weight of 240gsm. The result is fabric that has strength, warmth and softness with an incredible warmth to weight ratio. It is also easy to knit, super lofty and light.
The Yardang Jersey comes with a quarter-zip front allowing to vent a little and not having to worry about the zipper catching other wearables you may also have on.
The Yardang Jersey is versatile to layer up or down over base layers or under heavier mid layers. It also has a longer sleeve length for extra comfortable layering.
Other features include a signature tag tape on the left cuff, external embroidery logo, and with a natural anti-odor property.
Merino wool is better at helping your body regulate its temperature – fleece and other synthetic blends just keep you warm only. Just like merino wool, yak wool is naturally odor-resistant, while its softness has been compared to cashmere. Its natural properties help with temperature regulation and the less energy you use to stay warm or cool down, the more you can dedicate to movement.
Summary
The Kora Yardang Jersey is super-light and soft – the softness is better than cashmere! But its sleeve length, even though with the longer length, does not feel overly long and does not interfere with my outer layer jacket.
The untucked jersey also has just the right length and athletic fit – goldilocks moment 🙂
The temperature regulating merino wool and yak wool blend is optimal in our opinion – just warm enough in cold weather, just cool enough for warm weather. Wear tested between 45 degrees to 70 degrees in Northern California.
