We wear tested the old Kigo brand shoe, Kigo Edge, over four years ago and was not happy with the ultra narrow toe box. The old Kigo brand was sold over a year ago and now is a new and dynamic shoe company driven by a husband and wife team, Marco Serrano and Kristin Parker Serrano. The new Kigo creates footwear that is minimalist and lightweight in design ensuring that feet and toes are protected without being constricted. We wear tested the Kigo Leon, Pai, and Bali recently. The Kigo Leon is a casual wide toe box shoe with traditional lacing that is also lightweight, anatomical shape, zero drop, and a slip-free outsole. Total stack height is 6mm. For both men and women.

Review Summary
I chose to test the Kigo Leon and had my female wear tester check out the Kigo Pai and Kigo Bali. Even though I have 2E+ wide feet, the Kigo Leon still has extra space to accommodate at least a 4E wide foot! My size M10.5 pair weighs in at a lightweight 5.2 ounces. You can immediately feel the generous toe box, soft, flexible and lightweight casual shoe – the nice natural feeling not found on many of today’s unhealthy shoe brands…
All the Kigos are about as minimal as a shoe can get – a thin outsole and recycle plastic bottle uppers (canvas-like). Lightweight and flexible, they move with your feet and work naturally. Because they are so light, flexible, collapsible and fit into the shoe bag provided, I bring them with me for any trips I take! My only pet peeve about the Leon is that the tongue moves around quite a bit as I don’t tighten the laces as much.
It’s a little different for my female wear tester. She has wide feet but not 2E+ yet and we couldn’t size them down a size because it would be too short. Unfortunately, the Kigo Pai and Kigo Bali are both too wide for her feet to wear it for a long time without slipping too much (medial to lateral and vice-versa). If you have wide feet (2E+), this is your shoe though! Other than the ultra-wide toe box, the Kigo Bali reminded her of the VIVOBAREFOOT Jing Jing that she tested last year for about the same price.
The color choices are refreshing and can be coordinated with whatever outfits you are wearing. I noticed that in my travels in Europe, people have wider feet and wear shoes that are minimal compared to US standards. And the Kigo footwear is most likely targeted towards a hip and younger European audience.
If you have been wearing huaraches or sandals or minimal shoes for walking or running, your feet should have grown in size and width.
