New Balance is also adding to the Minimus collection with the new and improved Minimus 1010v2 trail. This updated edition continues to offer the perfect blend of minimal and traditional features with fit updates and innovative advancements.
The 1010v2 continues to round out the Minimus collection for New Balance by acting as a gateway for runners looking for lower stack heights but with more traditional support. This update reengineers the outsole featuring a slightly more rugged lug construction that will guarantee the 1010v2 can handle any terrain a runner faces. Additional improvements to the midsole include adding 1mm of thickness and increasing the use of Vibram rubber in the midfoot area for better underfoot protection and increasing durability. These smart improvements make the 1010v2 ideal for runners that want to run on the world’s harshest trails but need a little more cushioning underfoot.
The upper on the 1010v2 remains very similar to the first version, welding a tight mono mesh with synthetic materials to create the ideal blend of weight reduction and further enhancing the durability of the shoe. Welding on the upper provides support in key areas in a flexible manner with an open toe box for natural forefoot splay to ensure a proper fit. Updates to the tongue construction in the 1010v2 include a softer feel and slightly thicker foam ensuring a barefoot-friendly interior with no insert.
The continued use of REVlite cushioning provides substantial weight reduction without sacrificing the support needed for all day comfort on the trail. The overall fit and feel of the original remains intact, the enhancements ensure the perfect balance of familiarity and newness by providing a minimal underfoot feel while staying true to the needs of the more traditional performance trail runner.
The NB Minimus 1010v2 Trail launches in July 2013 and the suggested retail price is $109.95.
