Get ready for Summer with Smartwool Everyday Short Sleeve Shirt & 8-inch Shorts

Posted on May 13, 2025May 13, 2025

Are you ready to enjoy the warmer weather? Smartwool has recently launched new products for the Spring 2025 season including two that we’re excited about: Smartwool Everyday Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt and the Smartwool 8-inch Shorts.

SMARTWOOL EVERYDAY SHORT SLEEVE BUTTON DOWN SHIRT

The Smartwool Everyday Short Sleeve Shirt stands out as a versatile piece designed for those who value both comfort and performance in their daily and active wardrobes.

The Smartwool Everyday Short Sleeve Shirt is exceptionally versatile, bridging the gap between casual and more formal wear. Its lightweight, stretch-woven fabric blends Merino wool with recycled polyester, offering the natural benefits of Merino—such as moisture management, odor resistance, and temperature regulation while adding durability and quick-drying properties from polyester.

The regular fit allows for easy layering and movement, making it suitable for everything from work and travel to hiking and backyard gatherings.

The shirt’s odor resistance means it can be worn for multiple days without washing, perfect for our travel and outdoor adventures, especially in the summer months – I wear tested them in my recent trip to Phoenix, AZ (90 degrees plus temperatures).

The thoughtful seam placements (shoulder and side) are designed to increase comfort and minimize chafing while the tapered waistline does provide a flattering and functional design choice. The breathable underarm panels provides additional breathability.

The shirt is machine washable and retains its shape and softness after multiple washes. However, as with all merino wool garments, it’s recommended to follow the care instructions (see below) to maintain its longevity.

Merino Wool Care Instructions

Wash With Like Colors
Do Not Iron Decorations
Do Not Dry Clean
Cool Iron As Needed
Tumble Dry Low
Do Not Bleach
Machine Wash Cold Gentle Cycle

Overall, the Smartwool Everyday Short Sleeve Shirt is our go-to choice for a stylish, high-performance top that transitions seamlessly from active pursuits to everyday life. The breathability, comfort, and flattering fit, excels in both hot and cool conditions!

I do wish that there are more colorway choices with neutral color options for more formal occasions or work.

Available in many colorways or designs.

Available for purchase at: Smartwool, Amazon, REI, and Backcountry.

SMARTWOOL 8″ SHORTS

The Smartwool 8 Inch Shorts are designed for those seeking a blend of technical performance and everyday comfort. Its lightweight feel, thoughtful construction, and versatile style provides a standout choice for our active lifestyle and casual wear alike.

The shorts feature a regular fit with a lightweight, stretch-woven exterior that offers excellent mobility and breathability, making them ideal for everything from hiking and travel to everyday wear – two of our favorite activities!

The Merino wool-lined waistband and TENCEL™ Lyocell blend provide a soft, moisture-wicking, and odor-resistant experience against the skin. Merino wool’s natural properties help resist odors, allowing for extended wear without frequent washing.

The 8 Inch Shorts has a double snap closure, zippered fly, adjustable drawcord waist, and multiple pockets (including a secure back zip pocket). There are two hand pockets and one zippered back pocket offering practical storage options. The pocket linings are made from 100% recycled polyester, ensuring quick-drying capabilities and added sustainability.

Overall, the Smartwool 8″ Shorts are our top pick for anyone seeking a stylish, technical, and comfortable short for warm-weather adventures and everyday life. With its lightweight feel, it gives us the feeling like “you aren’t wearing anything at all“.

Available in many colorways or designs.

Available for purchase at: Smartwool, Amazon, REI, and Backcountry.
