Ditch the socks and hit the docks with these stylishly, breathable boat shoes from LEMs Shoes!  With their 100% full-grain leather and mesh uppers, The Mariner allow your feet to breathe in the seashore scents without getting all choked up.  And forget the funk, because the smooth leather lining keeps the odor away.  Hook yourself a pair, and let them compliment any outfit.

The Mariner is zero-drop with a foot-shaped last and a stack height of 9mm from the injection rubber outsole. The upper is made of 100% genuine leather and non-waterproof mesh. There is also a removable 3mm moisture wicking foam insole. All the lining is in 100% genuine leather. Premium material used and as minimal as it gets.

So how did LEMs Shoe Mariner perform?

My pair of The Mariner (Men’s EU44) weighs in at 8.4 ounces. I wear all my running and casual shoes sockless and there is no exception here with The Mariner – ultra-comfortable especially with its leather lining.

The toe box is extra wide with extra space for toes to splay. The low stack height allows you to feel the ground for great feedback – the thousands of nerves in your feet are awakened!

Sperry Top Sider and Frye may have a lock on boat shoes. But all these models have very narrow toe boxes, not-so flexible outsole, and not lightweight. I won’t be able to wear any of their models today. I have owned two pairs of Sperry Top Sider boat shoes 20+ years ago for the workplace. That was when Asics 12mm drop heeled and cushioned motion control running shoes were the rage! So if you want a healthy feet and healthy body, the Mariner is a no-brainer boat shoe in my opinion.

The Frye Sully Boat weighs 16 ounces whereas the Sperry Top Sider Authentic Original weighs in at 14 ounces. Compare this to the Mariner’s 8.4 ounces – that’s a whooping 6+ ounces lighter! The traction on The Mariner is also superior to anything that Sperry Top Sider and Frye can dish out.

In terms of comfort and fit, there is NO comparison – LEMs Mariner is the most comfortable boat shoes I have ever worn. It also bears some resemblance to the LEMs Boulder Boot in terms of design, fit, and function minus the high top. If you like the Boulder Boot, you’ll love The Mariner even more!

The majority of boat shoes are probably worn in casual situations and in the workplace especially in Silicon Valley. If you are looking for a more comfortable minimalist casual shoe, look no more, The Mariner is it. Next task is to convince all the high tech professionals here to switch to a more comfortable and healthier alternative to Sperry Top Sider and Frye…

If there is anything that LEMs Shoes can do to make The Mariner any better, my only nit is that the tongue should be longer/higher by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The down side is that this will make it slightly harder to slip them on without untying the shoe laces.

The LEMs Mariner is available in 2 colorways (Sand and Camel) for both men and women.
