Teva Mush Frio Lace Canvas & Ballerina Mesh

Posted on June 19, 2011June 19, 2011

Teva is diving into the casual lightweight minimal shoes category with their latest Mush Flyweights Collection. We’ve recently reviewed the Teva Zilch from their Skinny Dip Collection and was really impressed.

The Mush Flyweights Collection consist of the Mush Frio Slip Canvas and Mush Frio Lace Canvas for Men’s and for Women’s, they have the Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh and Mush Frio MJ Mesh. These flyweights are made of the same material as their Mush flip flops – they will mold to your feet in no time. And they’re designed with easy on and easy off capability in mind.

Reminded me of a similar approach taken by Crocs with their Crocs Hover that we also reviewed recently. For our reviews, we wear tested the Lace Canvas and Ballerina Mesh.

Weighing in at only 6.2 ounces (US Size 10), the Mush Frio Lace Canvas has a stack height of 24mm and about an 8mm drop.

There is a removable insole (glued to the midsole that I pulled off easily) that is a 8mm thick and forms the core of the shoe. It is made of soft EVA and creates the comfortable footbed that molds to your foot’s unique shape – the Mush.

The toe box is wide and I’ve been wearing them sockless. Fortunately, the shoe has built-in Agion antimicrobial to stop odors! The uppers are made of lightweight synthetic and canvas.

These shoes are super-comfortable although it gets warm but I’m glad there are two portholes on the side for breathability.

They are a little retro and stylish looking and also go great with jeans!

In terms of sizing, the Mush Frio Lace Canvas runs true to size. It is very snug in a Size 10 sockless for me. But after a few long walks with my dogs, they stretched a bit and I’m now able to wear socks with them on more formal occasions.

Next up, for women, the Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh lightweight shoe.

The Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh weighs a super-light 3.8 ounces and has a stack height of 20mm. It is also about an 8mm drop.

It has the same soft EVA that molds to your foot shape and super-grip outsole as the Mush Frio Lace Canvas.

The Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh brings all of the things you love about Teva’s Mush flip flops into a stylish package can be worn all year long – super lightweight, foot–conforming Mushiness that you thought you had to put away at the end of summer.

It has a lightweight mesh upper and a synthetic bumper to protect your toes.

In terms of sizing, the Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh runs a little large. It is a little loose for my wear tester Sophie. She would prefer going sockless but had to wear socks in order for her to walk with them comfortably and without losing her shoes!

Light weight and collapsible, the Mush Flyweights are ideal for all kinds of traveling where luggage space is at a premium.

The Teva Mush Frio Lace Canvas for Men’s is available in 5 colors: Black, Brown, Dune, Moon Rock, and Teva Blue.

The Teva Mush Frio Ballerina Mesh for Women’s is available in 4 colors: Baton Rouge, Black, Brown, and Charcoal Grey.

Flip Flop lovers rejoice. All models are now available on the Teva web site and on Zappos.
