We reviewed the VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi for men over two years ago. In this review, we will review the new women’s VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi II Suede, the original barefoot desert boot, redesigned for women. This unique desert boot effortlessly marries fashion and function and has all the hallmarks of a classic; the clean lines, unfussy tie-up lacing, unlined suede (or leather) as well as our revolutionary patented ultra-thin, puncture-resistant sole.
Your feet will be able to behave as if they are barefoot in style and you’ll get total flexibility from the soft and supple unlined leather (or suede). Give you natural motion control by allowing your big toe to engage rapidly with the earth as well as independent rear and forefoot movement.
The Gobi II is built with your foot in mind; the toe box is nice and wide giving your toes the space they need. The ultra-thin sole is completely flat from heel to toe so your arch can function completely naturally. The super thin 3mm puncture-resistant sole let your feet receive all the sensory information it needs to inform the brain for skillful, natural movement.
The insole is removable and the heel counter features a back pull loop for easier on and off. The uppers also feature a three-eye lace closure with blind eyelets.

So how did the VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi II perform?
Prior to the VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi II, our female wear tester Sophie has been wearing the SKORA FIT and Topo Athletic Oterro with her jeans and casual work outfit. Now, the Gobi II is her go-to casual work shoe.
The toe box on the Gobi II is a little wider than her other shoes and wearing them sockless, she slides a little sometimes if she doesn’t tighten her shoe laces enough. She loves the low stack height and zero drop plus the comfort from the suede uppers, lining, and super-flexible high-traction outsole – all natural movements without restrictions. The fabric lining wicks moisture away from the skin to promote a comfortably cool environment.
If you are wearing VIVOBAREFOOT shoes sockless and don’t have wide (2E+) feet, you might want to size down by a half-size. The non-slip and super-traction outsole might make the Gobi II an option for those working in slippery floors although the suede version is not waterproof.
The VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi II is available in Suede and in Leather.
The VIVOBAREFOOT Gobi II is available for purchase at VIVOBAREFOOT, Amazon, and Zappos.
