Do you need your iced mocha to stay frosty for hours on those long trips or bike rides? Want your homemade chili to still be hot for lunch even though you poured it in seven hours and 4,000 vertical feet ago? With double-wall, vacuum insulation, the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated 20oz thermos keeps contents hot up to six hours and more than 24 for iced. Made from high quality, 18/8, food-grade stainless steel with a 100% stainless interior, it won’t retain or impart flavors.

The leak proof stainless Loop Cap means you can toss it in your bag without a second thought, while the Café Cap converts your Klean Kanteen into a sleek to-go mug with a quick twist. When your day is over, the all-stainless threads and rounded corners make cleaning as simple as giving it a quick scrub with a bottle brush and warm, soapy water.

So how did the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated perform?

For starters, the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated 20 oz thermos may fit (really) tight with standard bike aluminum or stainless steel bottle cages – it scratches the stainless steel thermos… I replaced mine with a fiberglass/nylon bottle cage with self-adjusting thermoplastic rubber joints from my local Performance Bike store: Elite Custom Race Cage.

For our long winter or cold bike rides (less than 4 hours), the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated thermos kept our beverages (mocha) warm. We are looking forward to the hot summer rides with Klean Kanteen keeping our drinks super cold!

The ultimate test for me is a long holiday road trip I did in late December – a 12 hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area to Phoenix, Arizona with my family and dogs. I filled both a regular 48 ounces thermos and the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated 20 ounces with fresh brewed coffee. According to the specifications, the Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated is supposed to insulates hot beverages up to 6 hours. All through the drive, almost every 2 hours, we drank coffee from both thermos – undetectable differences in the temperature. After 6 hours, the Klean Kanteen thermos has warmer coffee than the regular thermos. But after 8 hours, both are cooled down.

My favorite feature of the thermos is the ease of cleaning (they are also dishwasher safe). All Klean Kanteen thermos feature rounded corners, large-mouth openings, and large-radius threads, so there are no hard angles that allow germs and bacteria to hide out inside.

The Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated 20 oz is available in over a dozen colors and is compatible with three caps (Café, Stainless Wide Flip D-Ring, Stainless Wide Loop). Also available in smaller 12 oz and 16 oz capacity.
