The Pearl Izumi Road N0 v2 is their lightest, race ready, and lowest drop road running shoe with minimal cushioning – the best Pearl Izumi running shoe with proprioception for the minimalist runner. The Road N0 v2 delivers a smooth and, responsive ride with great ground feel on both road and trails. The soft and seamless 3D-printed uppers provides a sock-like fit – no hot spots or blisters while running sockless (always) in them.
There are also reflective elements in the tongue mesh and heel area, keeping runners safe and seen in low-light conditions. But I still recommend additional lighting elements like Knuckle Lights or Night Runner 270, both our favorites and what we use daily.
The Road N0 v2 has a measured (using our digital calipers) heel-to-toe offset or drop of 1 mm and a stack height of 16 mm. Pearl Izumi uses a running shoe category scheme that I have summarized in the graphic below. Note where the Road N0 v2 fits and where the E:MOTION Tri N1 v2 (we reviewed it recently) is in the chart.
This is the best Pearl Izumi running shoe that we have wear tested and one of the best half-dozen we have tested overall. The bad news? As part of Pearl Izumi “all in” commitment to cycling apparel and footwear, the decision has been made by Pearl Izumi to exit the Run business and focus completely on its core Cycling business effective January of 2017. The move is intended to focus Pearl Izumi on one thing: being the best at performance cycling, mountain bike and tri apparel, shoes and accessories.
